It’s our favourite time of year: Pension Awareness Week, and this blog will explore the importance of retirement planning and ways that My Money Matters can help you.
Why Pension Awareness Week Matters
A recent Unbiased survey found that three in four working people in the UK don’t know how much their pension is worth1. That means that not enough people are planning for their ideal retirement.
Pension Awareness Week is all about addressing this and shining a spotlight on your financial future. This week is a chance to pause and reflect on whether you’re saving enough for the retirement that you want to live out.
My Money Matters are helping to raise awareness and encourage you to talk about your pension, so you can become empowered and make informed decisions to help boost your potential retirement income.

How do I start planning for retirement?
Retirement can feel like a lifetime away, but the earlier you start to outline what you want your retirement lifestyle to look like, and how much income you’d like to have, you can put a plan in place to get there.
Pension Awareness Week could be the easiest place to start, and we’re hosting free pension-focused webinars to provide you with the right knowledge to make informed decisions about your future. You will be able to ask our Financial Education Coaches any questions you may have about your pension scheme or retirement savings.
No matter what stage of your working life you’re in or what organisation you work for, we’re here to offer dedicated financial wellbeing support to help you gain confidence with your money.
It’s important to remember that a pension is a long-term investment and the fund value may fluctuate and can go down. Pension eligibility and tax rules apply.
